Meet Dana Secord, MA, LPC

Welcome! My name is Dana Secord. Although I’ve always enjoyed talking to people, I enjoy listening to people even more. I’ve always been fascinated by the human mind, by the way people interact with each other, and by the strength and resilience people demonstrate time and time again. Although I’ve faced my own share of challenges and struggles, I will be forever grateful for those challenges and struggles because they have led me to where I am today. After spending several years in a dysfunctional marriage, getting divorced, then remarried, and moving from my hometown of Detroit, Michigan to Dallas, Texas, I decided to go back to school and pursue my graduate degree in something I’ve always been passionate about… helping people! To me, there is no greater reward than watching people succeed, helping people find balance in their life, and encouraging people to begin living an authentic life.

My Mission

My mission is to help you uncover your true potential and begin leading a life that is worth celebrating. Although we can’t change the difficult situations and circumstances that we’ve experienced in the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve the challenges we’re facing today. By applying therapeutic approaches and techniques that complement each other, we can unearth the long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be preventing you from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. Whether you are looking for support and guidance or you are ready to move in a different direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals!

Inspirational Quotes

“Perfectionism is a self destructive and addictive belief system that fuels this primary thought: If I look perfect, and do everything perfectly, I can avoid or minimise the painful feelings of shame, judgment, and blame.”

Brene Brown

“Somehow we’ve come to equate success with not needing anyone. Many of us are willing to extend a helping hand, but we’re very reluctant to reach out for help when we need it ourselves. It’s as if we’ve divided the world into “those who offer help” and “those who need help.” The truth is that we are both.”

Brene Brown

“Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome.”

Brene Brown
